Confidence is one of the most important words in English. Arnold’s son graduated from high school and went into the Coast Guard. Four years of disciplined training. He helped raid drug ships. When he mustered out he had a four year college scholarship in his hands.

When he started college he dressed “up”. Shined shoes, sport coat and took it very seriously. He carried a fountain pen with real ink. He wrote all of his papers in script. He was on time, and all was done perfectly. Professors went nuts, they could not read his papers and they had him give a computer disc with the script paper. He was and still is one of the most confident young men I know.
He is a professional writer and works for a large corporation.

He does not carry EGO, he carries confidence. He performs with his work, not his mouth. His uncle Mel gave him a brand new Japanese top grade fountain pen for graduation. He loved it.

Potters should think of themselves with confidence. The skilled craftsperson knows how to make things with care and understanding. That breeds confidence.

The super skilled craftsperson is responsible for teaching the next batch of “hands on” skilled craftsperson’s. It is part of our DNA. Think of that young apprentice in China a thousand years ago.
