Hi Candace,
Other folks have given you other options than using kiln to heat studio, re how they do it but seems your specific question has gone unanswered thus far.
A little more detail from you would help qualify a response. But bear with me as I editorialize.
What I hear is that you wish to "play" and don't wish to have another expense for heating equipment other than setting the kiln on low and getting on with part time and precious studio time. Go for it.
At one time in certain situations, I installed Kilowatt meters on my kilns and found their usage very cost effective, but I don't have current stats to offer. but whether it is gas, wood, electric, nothing is free, even collecting sunlight.
Kiln space heating is safe if kiln is installed as a unit to safely fire pots.
Considering not having to buy and install other heating means and continuously supplying fuel, makes using your kiln for heat sensible and very cost effective and safe in the long run.
What is the potential conflict you mention? It might help if we had specifics on that.
Just remember some folks thrive on conflict and are never "Happy" unless they can be "Mad" about "something."
Does this other individual already resemble your next "ex"
Be well,
Hope this all works out for you,
David Woof....................been there........done that...!!!......................................................................

Subject: [Clayart] Kiln as studio heater
Aside from common sense, are there reasons why is might not be a good idea to use an electric kiln run on low to heat a 15.x 30’ studio? Thanks
I’m sharing a studio space, donated a kiln and need stats to ward off a conflict. Candace Young
Really retired, just want to play.
