No, absolutely not. Safety glasses or goggles sold for raku firing are similar to those used for gas-welding, which are shade #4 to #8. If you use those to view the eclipse, you will damage your eyes and possibly go blind. What you need for viewing the eclipse is a set of goggles of a shade #12 to #14, which is the shade used for arc-welding.

Bought some dark safety glasses for raku recently but tossed the
packaging which may have had some info on it. I wonder if these
glasses would be good for viewing the eclipse. The sun is not a cone 10
peephole but lazy CNC asks clayart pals first before seeking advice of others on such miscellaneous matters. Carolyn
