July is always our most quiet time for clayart.
All is well, systems working fine.
So, when a question comes up, we will send it
out to our members.
My summer camp for adult artists went very well..in fact
one of our most productive and happy camps ever.
We fired the small stoneware kiln 8 days in a row to cone 11.
Most firings where about 4.5 hours. The pots sparkled.
The weather was really hot, but being outside, and nice shaded
buildings makes things ok. Nights here in Wisconsin on a spring
fed river get very cool about 7 pm. All sleep with a fluffy quilt.
I am doing a lot of Mel6 clay fired to cone 7 lite reduction. I rebuilt another
electric kiln and re/organized my garage to be more shop like.
Both kilns fire to cone 6 very easily. The electrics inside will
give me about two more months of firing. The gas kiln gets buried in the
snow. I did my own measurements and came up with 100 inches of snow this
past winter. We had one snow at the end of the season that was 13 inches.
The big cities got 2 inches, so we past them up.
`Good will` to all. Work for great fired clay.
