Elizabeth Carpenter is an independent curator, writer, and educator,
currently a lecturer in the Department of Art at the University of
Minnesota where she teaches art history and theory. Carpenter holds
a BA in English from the University of Wisconsin -- Madison, MA in
Art History from the University of Minnesota, and M.Phil. in Art
History from the City University of New York Graduate Center (CUNY).
As curator of visual arts at the Walker Art Center from 2001-2015,
some of her exhibition highlights included/ Frida Kahlo/ (2007);
/Robert Irwin: Slant/Light/Volume/ (2009); Hélio Oiticica / Rirkrit
Tiravanija: Contact (2010); Absentee Landlord (2011), curated with
filmmaker John Waters; /Frank Gaard: Poison & Candy/ (2012); and
/Dance Works III: Merce Cunningham / Rei Kawakubo /(2012). Prior to
her role at the Walker, Carpenter served on the curatorial team
responsible for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum exhibition, /Robert
Rauschenberg: A Retrospective/ (1997). In 2001, as guest curator in
the Department of Prints and Drawings, she curated /Jim Dine Prints:
1985 -- 2000/ at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for which she
also wrote and edited a catalogue raisonné of Dine's graphic work.
Her writing has appeared in numerous exhibition catalogues and /Art
in Print. /

call for Venue Originated Exhibition proposals is intended for and
limited to curators, gallery directors or staff of art venues,
galleries and organizations based in the region of the 2019
conference ... Minneapolis, Minnesota. All venues and organizers
interested in developing clay-centered exhibitions eligible for
listing on the NCECA website, print conference guide, and mobile
device app must go through the process of review involved in this
call for proposals. Eligible exhibitions must agree to be open to
the public Tuesday, March 26 - Saturday, March 30, 2019 and are
strongly recommended to be open on Monday, March 25 and Sunday,
March 31, 2019.
Active membership in NCECA is suggested for the venue, curator, or
organizer submitting the exhibition proposal. Exhibitions curated or
organized by NCECA members are eligible for free listings in the
conference promotional materials. Exhibition Proposals submitted by
those who are not members of NCECA may be subject to a $50 listing
fee for inclusion in NCECA's publications, including print
materials, mobile device app, and website. Artists included in the
proposal are not required to be members of NCECA at the time the
proposal is submitted.

Up to nine galleries from across the US and/or abroad will be
invited for participation by an adjudication committee chaired by
NCECA Director at Large Russell Wrankle. Eligible galleries must be
able to demonstrate a track record of high quality exhibition of
ceramic art. The online submission process requires Gallery Contact
information plus the following materials:
? Statement of philosophy and or goals for engaging artists,
community and collectors. Limit 1800 characters including spaces.
? List of exhibiting artists (maximum of 10 for adjudication purposes)
? Please include gallery name and (if applicable) website address.
? Program Guide description -- Limit 300 characters including spaces
(If your gallery is accepted, this will be printed in the Program Guide)
? Images -- Exactly 10 images are required; one of which is to be of
the booth display. The other images are to be representative of
works to be shown. If a booth display image is not available please
include a rendering of the proposed design. (.jpg ONLY. Each image
no larger than 800 KB)

*The 2019 NCECA Juried Student Exhibition will take place at the Soo
Visual Arts Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Juried by artists
Linda Lopez and Steven Young Lee, for the first time, those studying
ceramics in undergraduate, graduate, and post-baccalaureate programs
in the United States, Canada, and Mexico will be eligible. The call
for submissions will open in mid-August 2018. A nonprofit 501c3 arts
organization that connects its community with fresh,
underrepresented and provocative work, Soo Visual Arts Center's
programming is made possible in part by the generous support of our
Members, Best Buy Foundation, McKnight Foundation, Metropolitan
Regional Arts Council, Target, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota,

new user if you haven't used the login portal in the past.
NCECA encourages all historical users to revisit their account
profiles and review their contact information for current accuracy.
