i just got such a big bang out of your post.
can you believe for a second those chinese potters
would not know how to crash cool????  they are
experts....but, as you know...open a hot top loader
and peer in.  goodbye face.

i just loved your post...having been there, i just start
to laugh.  those people do things that make me shutter
as an every day experience.  hauling 8 foot tall pots
into a kiln...`no big deal, just do it.  700 lb pots.
one tiny lady moves them with a pallet jack.

i have yapped about this stuff for years.
stark amateurs read this stuff, and think..
`oh hell, i can do that`...sure.

we old timers here on clayart try to keep people away
from danger...take those old fool stories away.

oxy open damper cooling is great for really glossy
stuff. even open the peep holes. and the ports.
let the oxygen in.  but, time it.....maybe 10 minutes
at the end.  then button up.
and, for those that hate crystal formation, get oxygen in the
kiln.

everything mr. wonderful,  hank murrow has taught us is.
CRYSTAL FORMATION...ESP SHINO. down fire for
crystals and color change.

don't open the door on a cone 11 firing...and peer in.
i bet terry got back a long way.  like 20 feet.

like my buddy at the farm that stuck dynamite in a beaver dam.
god, it blew crap for a mile...i bet he pee'd his pants.
plus, it is illegal as can be.  don't mess with beaver dams.
god i laughed til i was sick.  he was the guy that said one day
when i asked why he bought a new honda accord  (after 50 years of ford
cars)....`man, oh man, if you
