buy a small diamond drill at any hardware.
just a few bucks.  
drill a hole in the ring foot...top.
\just one hole...insert a piece of pix wire
and add a small washer or metal nut on the end.
pull tight against the ring. (inside.)
make a loop in the wire and hand from that.
easy.
\i often make a small hole in my larger platters.
the client can ask for a hanger, or just add one later.

the hanger can be removed in seconds if the client wants
to use the platter and then  use the dish washer.
put the wire back in.
bingo.
