Seems like the Apple coders have changed something in the latest Mail update, so my reply was made in HTML. the clayart list is plain text only. if you use HTML it is scrubbed" and not delivered to Clayart subscribers.

that said it is dolomite. When I worked as a chemist one summer in 1944 when I had finished 3 years of chemistry but was still in college I worked for Permanente Metals who were making magnesium out of dolomite by a couple of different processes. The metal was used in making airplanes for the Air Force.

I have been given some glaze materials by another potter and I'm not
familiar with a couple of the names. One container is labeled "nickel
silica." Is it likely that this is just silica or is it something
different? Another is a full bag from the J.R. Camadil company that says
it is 54% Calcium Carbonate and 43% Magnesium Carbonate. Is this possibly
Dolomite, or is it something else? Thanks for any help.
